The move into the highly lucrative Kuwaiti market, which has the GCC's highest foodservice share, represents the first step of a $5 million investment for Gourmet Gulf - four more restaurants will open in Kuwait by February 2007.
Attending the launches, Sami Daud, Managing Director, Gourmet Gulf, said: "These openings signify a bright, new horizon for Gourmet Gulf as we embark on our regional expansion strategy -the future begins here."
Yo! Sushi - the conveyor belt sushi concept, Gourmet Burger Kitchen - London's award-winning burger concept and Gourmet Gulf's first solely-owned franchise, Pizzeria Cucina, are all operating within Marina Mall.
Morelli's Gelato, the luxury gelateria with a rich 99-year heritage as traditional ice-cream industry artisans, also opened - the first Morelli's outside the UK. A second Morelli's, the flagship GCC branch, is to open in Dubai Festival City in October.
"Kuwait City, like Dubai, has an up-market reputation and increasingly cosmopolitan population and visitor base - it is a superb fit for the expansion of the Morelli brand overseas," said Bibi Morelli, Managing Director, Morelli's Gelato.
