"With web usage growing exponentially year-on-year, the increase in risk from data theft becomes greater, especially as more and more information goes digital," says Nisar Khan, Channel Account manager - security business unit, Trend Micro.

"Businesses need to be made aware that attacks are on the increase and that hackers are switching from the usual worm method of infection to the Trojan horse attack tactic.
With the many daily threats, customers need to be constantly updated on their defenses. We want to empower our channel partners so that they can discuss security strategy with customers to ensure infrastructure is properly defended."

Cyber-criminals are using worms, Trojans and spyware, which now make up to 70 per cent of all malware, to target of PC users. According to reports, the volume of targeted cyber-crime attacks has reached its highest ever level and by partnering with Trend Micro, Online Distribution is keen to drive awareness of new security technology.

"We recognise the key role the channel plays in protecting businesses in the Middle East and want to ensure as many companies as possible are involved with it. As a value added distribution house, our prime responsibility is to develop and support our partners so that we build mutually beneficial relationships. We will launch a number of promotions shortly and hope to generate sales leads for our partners," explains Sushma Kajaria, business unit manager, security business unit, OnLine Distribution.

Resellers will be able to add value through service and support, and Online Distribution also has an enterprise sales team to feed leads to channel partners.

"We want proactive resellers to add value. By partnering with Online Distribution, we want to help drive partner awareness, and give them access to relevant technology. We intend to run end-user demand-generation campaigns, and all leads will be fulfilled through the channel," adds Khan.

The campaign will run till the end of September.
