KAU, SNAS/DHL sign delivery pact
- Saudi Arabia: Thursday, July 27 - 2006 at 12:05
- PRESS RELEASE
In an effort to facilitate the admission process for its distance-learning program, King Abdulaziz University (KAU) in Jeddah has partnered with the country's leading logistics provider SNAS/DHL to utilize its logistics expertise on handling over 10,000 distance learning applications for online students.
Instead of queuing at the admissions desks at KAU, students will now be able to submit a copy of their credentials to their closest DHL counter in any city Kingdom-wide, SNAS/DHL will then deliver these to the Admission and Registration office for a competitive price.
"KAU will be able to increase the efficiency of their distance learning admission system by speeding up deliveries, saving the students the extra cost and time of travelling to Jeddah to submit their credentials, and preventing long queues in front of the registrars' offices. This should lead to greater customer satisfaction and a better standard of service and quality for the distance learning program online admission system," said Amer Abu Obeid, SNAS/DHL Area Sales Manager Western Province.
SNAS/DHL has set up a central distribution control center in Jeddah, with 24 hour operations across the Kingdom for the duration of the admission period. Scaleable operations allowing to set up for volume spikes and detailed preparations with the customer will allow for more efficient delivery of all applications.
"In the past few years, Saudi Arabia has experienced higher education institutional capacity issues. At present, the Kingdom can serve only 75,000 of its 200,000 high school graduates. As Saudi Arabia's first university to use online applications as an admission strategy, KAU will serve around 20,000 home-study students," said Dr. Abdulfattah Mashat, Dean of Admission and Registration at KAU.
Under the new contract, SNAS/DHL has demonstrated its customer-focused approach with its commitment to provide proactive solutions whatever the requirement.
"With an expected volume of 10,000 applications from all around the Kingdom for this program, it was imperative for us to strengthening our admission services through a reliable provider with a strong national network," concluded Dr. Mashat.
