The airline's 12th destination derives its name from the ancient Egyptian word 'Saut' meaning 'guard', which it earned as the Southern gateway to Egypt. The city is famous for its historical, cultural and tourist monuments, such as the Pharaoh tombs dating back to the Sixth Dynasty, more than 4500 years ago.
Jazeera Airways VP for Industry Affairs Bader Al Mershed said 'starting August 3rd, we will bring freedom to people traveling between Assiut and Kuwait. For the first time ever they will benefit from 24 hour online booking, online payment, and online seat reservations, in addition to all year-round low fares starting at KD 10.'
Jazeera Airways will be flying to Assiut on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays.
He added, 'this is our third destination in Egypt, the other two are Alexandria and Luxor. With 12 destinations in almost 10 months of operations, we are definitely the fastest growing airline in the Middle East; proportionately speaking.'
Jazeera Airways started operations with five destinations and two brand new airbus A320s on October 30th 2005. Since then, the airline added seven new destinations, took delivery of two additional brand new Airbus A320s, and flew more than 300,000 travelers to date.
