- PRESS RELEASE
H.H. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, yesterday registered under the Population Register and ID Card (PRIDC) program being implemented by the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA).
H.H. Sheikh Nahyan registered under the PRIDC at EIDA's Al Mushrif Registration Center in Abu Dhabi where he was briefed by EIDA officials about the registration process.
Sheikh Nahyan praised UAE President, H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan's initiative in registering under the PRIDC and said that this demonstrated the role that H.H. Sheikh Khalifa continues to play in leading the country's all round development. He said that H.H. Sheikh Khalifa's action would encourage UAE nationals and expatriate residents of the UAE to register in the program.
"The UAE's use of the most advanced technology in implementing the PRIDC project has proved to be a landmark development for the region," Sheikh Nahyan noted. He attributed this achievement to the efforts of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan whose vision was to transform the UAE into a modern nation.
The system used by the PRIDC utilizes the most advanced technology in the field of biometrics and information technology and is aimed at improving governmental services for the citizens and residents of the UAE.
The system also intends to enhance cooperation and coordination between government ministries and institutions, particularly the cooperation between the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and EIDA.
