Average mall rents up 36%

Rents for retail space in Dubai's shopping malls rose by an average 36% from 2003 to 2005, and are expected to go higher, according to data by Dubai-based GRMC Advisory Service cited by Gulf News. The high point at the end of 2005 was around $190 per square foot. Mall rents across the UAE rose by an average 22.4%, with those in Abu Dhabi up 17.6% and Sharjah 21.7%.
