Juma Al Majid reveals 19 per cent 1st Half sales increase

  • United Arab Emirates: Thursday, August 03 - 2006 at 12:08
  • PRESS RELEASE

Juma Al Majid announced a 19 percent sales increase during the first half of 2006 as compared to the same period last year.

The exclusive distributors of Hyundai vehicles in the UAE banked on strong retail sales of its bestsellers, including the Hyundai Santa Fe, which reported a record-breaking 300 per cent rise in sales since it launched barely a two months ago.

"We've already exceeded our targets for the first half, boosted by the impressive performance of the Santa Fe, Tucson and Elantra. Hyundai has made substantial inroads in the UAE market, proving to local consumers the superior value, quality and performance that goes into each vehicle. Globally, Hyundai announced it has reached another milestone by becoming the fifth largest automaker in the world, and we expect this boost even more our efforts in the UAE," said Isam Abu Nabah, General Manager, Juma Al Majid.

Although sales increased in the second quarter only slightly compared to the 36 per cent sales increase recorded in the first quarter, Mr. Abu Nabah says over-all first half performance still exceeded expectations, prompting Hyundai to place additional orders for Hyundai vehicles across the board.

"The World Cup promotions also provided additional support to our sales efforts, so we're very happy with our continuing association with FIFA as the exclusive automobile partner of the world's biggest sporting event until 2014," added Mr. Nabah.

Although the local market experienced some setbacks with weak stock market performance, rising fuel and real estate prices, slightly affecting consumer's purchasing power, Mr. Omar Baddar, Marketing Manager, Juma Al Majid Est. remains upbeat for the second half saying "Hyundai has established a strong reputation among local consumers for offering vehicles with great value - a strong leverage compared to our competitors."

Mr. Baddar also said that consumers can look forward to more new car launches this year, in addition to more exciting and innovative promotional offers.
