Huawei assists partners in developing mobile data services

The event, in Spain, was attended by executives from Mobily, Vodafone, Telefonica, France Telecom, British Telecom, KPN, and MTS among others and consultancies worldwide. Data services have become a major revenue source for telecom operators and convergent messaging is set to grow rapidly. Three panel discussions were held on 'Messaging Services', 'Mobile Multimedia' and 'Flexible Charging' and attendees concluded that content is the critical success factor of multimedia services.

'The telecommunications industry is evolving rapidly. Mobile data services are now widely regarded as the mainstream of future development,' said Wang Jiading, vice president, Huawei Technologies Middle East and North Africa operations. 'Huawei is an active participant in the development of data services and has the technology in place to handle demand for data services. Messaging services have strong growth potential and mobile multimedia, digital music and flexible charging will become key areas of focus in the future. We already have the most cost-effective solutions for these services and will continuously improve on them.'

Huawei has also introduced its Service Delivery Platform (Huawei SDP) with optimised structure to support partners quickly deliver new and convergent services to the market.

'We have achieved great success in the global data services market, and we are set to assist all its partners achieve even greater success in the future,' said Dr. Che Haiping, president, Huawei's Application & Software Product Line. 'Our areas of focus in mobile data services are experience, convergence, and multi-win. We look forward to working with operators, service providers and all our partners on mobile data services, including the challenges facing the transformation of the telecoms industry.'

During the forum, Dutch telecom operator KPN shared its experience in the deployment of data services; Hong Kong telecom enterprise PCCW described the industry landscape in Hong Kong and the strategies it adopted to establish a market leadership position; and AIS, Thailand's largest mobile operator, presented an overview of segmentation in customer groups for different services in the market.
