Huawei has launched over 22 million IP DSLAM lines, and is the world leader in IP and Ethernet based access solutions. The new high-density, high-bandwidth platform supports multiple access and uplink technologies and advanced video management capabilities, enabling service providers to deploy a complete broadband solution for bandwidth-intensive, media-rich applications, including internet TV.
OTE is the largest fixed and mobile network operator in Greece and one of the top ten European operators. This is its largest IP DSLAM network contract to date and Huawei will provide OTE with ADSL2+ IP DSLAM access equipment to handle 200,000 lines and Metro Ethernet equipment to build approximately one hundred nodes in two of Greece's largest cities, Athens and Thesalonniki. This network will help OTE provide high-speed internet access service, and IPTV, Triple Play services for its consumers and Ethernet private-line service to group customers, such as government, enterprises, and banks.
'The announcement marks the beginning of a strategic collaboration between OTE and Huawei,' said Wang Jiading, vice president, Huawei Technologies Middle East and North Africa region. 'Huawei will construct and expand OTE's broadband IP DSLAM and bearer-layer Metro Ethernet network over the next three years. Service providers everywhere are bringing broadband capabilities closer to their subscribers so they can offer a wider variety of high-value services and applications that will reduce churn and increase revenue per user. We have worked closely with our global customers to define and build a next-generation platform that leverages our market-leading IP DSLAM technology.'
Shen Surong, General Manager of Huawei Greece, said that meeting customer demands and focusing on customer development are Huawei's driving forces in making breakthroughs in Greece and other markets worldwide. Huawei is committed to continuously enhancing cooperation with OTE, promoting the development of telecommunications, and enriching people's lives through communication.
'We are committed to enriching people's life through communications and to bringing excellent services and innovative technologies to the region. We currently work with several leading telecom operators and believe that our broad and comprehensive portfolio of leading solutions and products provides us with a strong competitive edge,' added Jiading.
