- PRESS RELEASE
Under the guidance of His Excellency Sheikh Hamdan bin Mubarak and the newly formed Gulf Cup organizing committee headed by Mohamed Khalfan Al Rumaithy, the 18th Arabian Gulf Cup announced the launch of the 'Volunteer Programme' which marked the initial stage of preparation for the momentous sports event coming to the capital in January 2007.
The primary goal of this program is to invite and recruit volunteers to help with the hosting of delegates and activities for the event. The volunteers will play an important role before and during the Cup by taking part in all the principal hosting duties, which will be designated once the group of volunteers is selected and the training sessions conducted. A unique hands-on experience, this participation will give volunteers a chance to show the region and the world their willingness to support their local community. The applicants can send their profile sheets via email to gulfcup18@yahoo.com or apply in person at the UAE Football Association Building located in Zayed Sports City, Abu Dhabi.
The committee is set to demonstrate that the UAE as a whole and Abu Dhabi in specific will have pioneering role in one of the most exciting Gulf Cup events to date. The country is well-equipped with state of the art facilities and football stadiums to organize such an important event, in addition to luxurious hotels to host the visiting fans of football. The organizing committee for the Arabian Gulf Cup has committed their team to pre-preparations of every aspect of the activities leading up to the event in January 2007. UAE last hosted the event in 1994.
