As part of the training, Mr. Al-Awadi pointed out that the trainees are treated as official employees because they are asked to be at work during the official working hours, just like the normal bank staff. "In the same way that we train our normal staff," Mr. Al-Awadi said, "We follow up with every student trainee and observe their performance. Additionally, we check to make sure that the work, tasks and challenges we set them are in keeping with their abilities," he said.
In addition, the Training and Development Department give mentors to each of the student trainees so that their own personal development is recorded throughout the training. " At the end of the summer scheme, we can report back to each of the student trainees on how well they've done during the summer scheme as well as highlighting their strong areas and areas which they might need to improve in," Mr. Al-Awadi said.
As well as SIB's commitment to training their own staff, Mr. Al-Awadi confirmed that the bank is committed to providing training opportunities for school students.
"We consider it a part of our social responsibility towards the community that as a strong organization we provide the best support and training that we can, especially to the ambitious youth of the UAE," Mr. Al-Awadi said. "We aim to provide them with training for professional and social skills that may be useful for the rest of their lives,"he added.
SIB's summer training scheme comes in addition to the ongoing scheme of training for university level students. This runs as a programme in collaboration with many different institutes and colleges in inside the UAE. "We now have the ability to offer training for students of all ages which we feel really enforces our pledge to the young people of the UAE," Mr. Al-Awadi concluded.
