Islamic International Rating Agency visits Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia

IIRA paid a visit to Far East to introduce its services to the Islamic financial services industry in the Far East.

The Chairman of IIRA, Mr. Khaled AlAboodi and the Chief Executive Mr. Jamal Abbas Zaidi, met with top officials in the Ministry of Finance, Central Banks and a number of Financial Institutions in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.

In these meetings IIRA explained its rating methodologies and concepts. Both the regulators and market players welcomed IIRA. They also assured their support in IIRA's efforts to bring about transparency and greater disclosure. IIRA asserted that it is a unique rating agency with focus on Islamic Financial Institutions and products like Sukuks. IIRA aims to become the ultimate reference point for credit ratings in accordance with Shari'a principles.

The market players confirmed that IIRA's objectives are aligned with the market needs. It was further agreed that ratings by IIRA could serve as a bridge between Middle Eastern Investors and Far Eastern borrowers.
