RTA cooperates with Dubai Education Council (DEC) to help people with special needs

Mr. Abdulla Al Madani, CEO, Corporate Support Services, from the Roads & Transport Authority (RTA) was recently visited by a team from the Dubai Education Council (DEC) headed by Dr. Haidar Al Yousuf to discuss the issues and future projects directed to people with special needs.

Present at the meeting, representing the RTA was Dr. Aysha Al Busmait, Director of Marketing and Corporate Communication Department, Abdul Rahman Al Shaer, Director of Legal Affairs Department, Fawzia Al Amir, Director of the Chairman's Office, Mr. Sharif Bajo, Human Resources Specialist and MR. Ali Al Hashimi, Senior Training Officer.

Al Madani welcomed the delegation and praised the Dubai Education Council's efforts to involve and encourage people with special needs to mix with all groups in society ensuring that they enjoy integrated services and thus portray a positive role in society.

He added that the RTA in line with its strategies seeks to strengthen their coorporation with strategic partners for the benefit of all, especially people with special needs.

Dr. Haidar Al Yousuf, from the DEC presented a summary of the council and its projects for people with special needs and said that it is their vision to predict the self-determination of people with special needs and their families in a barrier-free society by involving best innovative practices that will be coordinated through sustainable research, educational and service activities.

He added that special needs people are of primary importance in society and make up a total of 14-19 % of the total population according to the statistics from World Health Organization.
