Google "not a verb"

Google has been criticised by media analysts for trying to ban people from using "to google" as a verb, to protect its trademark. The company says the correct usage is "I used Google to find hotels" but not "I googled hotels". However "to google" was added as a verb to the Merriam-Webster dictionary at the beginning of June. Google returns 6m hits for "googled" and 7m for "google it".
