'CMA CGM Don Carlos' at Khorfakkan
- United Arab Emirates: Tuesday, August 15 - 2006 at 12:33
- PRESS RELEASE
It only seems like a few weeks ago that Gulftainer's Khorfakkan Container Terminal was awaiting the first of CMA-CGM's series of giant new 8500 TEU containerships.
On August 11th the latest in this class to make an appearance at Khorfakkan, the 'CMA CGM Don Carlos', berthed and as usual, worked rapidly before sailing. Now all sister ships of this size have called at the terminal.
To mark the occasion terminal manager Dag Froehmcke presented the master Captain Ulf G. Rasmussen with a commemorative shield.
Gulftainer general manager Peter Richards commented "We were always confident that despite the sheer size of these ships and the resultant additional operational impact, we would be able to work them quickly and efficiently. However it's good to be able to say now after six months experience, that thanks to the joint efforts of the line, their agents, Sharjah Port Authority and ourselves, we have exceeded our own performance expectations on these splendid ships".
