Jacky's expands its retail network

The new outlets are Jacky's second and third at Mall of the Emirates, the first being at Magic Planet.

The opening of the new retail units is in line with the changing landscape of the retail space in the country, said Ashish Panjabi, Chief Operating Officer, Jacky's Electronics LLC. "Retail spend in shopping malls in the UAE has had a steady rise and, according to some reports, the total turnover for Dubai's consumer electronics market in 2005 was over AED8 billion," he said. Notebooks, Cameras, Mobile Phones & MP3 players are among the main electronics products that drive sales at Jacky's.

Among Jacky's main consumer groups at Mall of the Emirates are shoppers that already know what the market offers and are looking to make a quick buy. For these shoppers, Jacky's Express, a smaller version of a Jacky's Electronics store, offers a wide selection of fast moving digital products, such as digital video and music players, pocket PCs, notebooks, LCD TV's, gaming products and mobile phones. People shopping for large consumer appliances, such as washing machines and refrigerators, can do so at the Jacky's Electronics outlet located opposite to the Express outlet.

"Jacky's opened their first retail outlet in the UAE in 1988; since then we have seen drastic changes in the retail sector in the UAE. In the past, electronics retailing was dominated by single-brand distributor showrooms only but as one of the pioneers of multi-brand retailing in the country, Jacky's has given customers the opportunity to compare and be comfortable with their purchase decisions. This is especially important when someone is looking to invest a few thousand Dirhams; they want to know they have made the right decision and being able to see competitor products side-by-side makes the decision that much more easier," said Mr. Panjabi.

He added that one of the main reasons behind the opening of two additional outlets at Mall of the Emirates was the mall's growing popularity among both residents and tourists.

"Dubai has long had a reputation as an electronics hub. Today the Mall of the Emirates has come to be recognised as a place one can source all manner of goods, and, based on the success of the first Jacky's Express here, we have seen the benefit of multiple locations at the mall."

Jacky's will open the Jacky's Electronics outlet in the Mall of the Emirates during August 2006 and this will be followed by the opening of the new Jacky's Express outlet shortly after that.
