The relationship between DCCI and the UAERC was strong before 'Dubai the City that Cares 2002' campaign. DCCI has always had a keen interest in helping deprived people who need aid and assistance, especially during the Holy Month of Ramadan. This year is the first time in the five year history of 'Dubai the City that Cares' that DCCI has invited charities and non-profit organisations to directly participate in the event, with UAERC involved on the local level and UNICEF on a global level. This has fortified the relationship between DCCI and the UAERC and these initiatives are encouraging people of all nationalities to support children through promotional activities to ensure maximum donations to worthy causes.
'We are proud to associate UAE Red Crescent with the 'Dubai the city that cares 2002',' said Juma Al Khateri, UAE Red Crescent. 'The UAERC constantly strives to unify human efforts in offering extensive support to those who need it, and we see this combined effort for DCC 2002 as an ideal platform to promote these efforts.'
The value of this program for DCCI goes far beyond the fund-raising aspect. DCCI efforts are recognized in community service and supporting charitable activities. The 'Dubai the City that Cares' festival has never only focused on the retail and economic aspect of the festival, but more so the humanitarian aspect, which is very apparent and obvious. What DCCI does in terms of activities and effort is mirrored, supported and strengthened by UAERC as this organisation wants to be associated with such a humanitarian cause, and is conscious of further strengthening the relationship, especially for charity during Ramadan.
'This is the fifth year that DCCI has organized this annual campaign 'Dubai the City that Cares'. This year, the partnership with UAERC and UNICEF has further developed the concept to incorporate a charitable element for children of the world,' said Thani Juma Berregad, Chief Co-ordinator, Dubai the City that Cares 2002.
UAERC is the first Arab charity organisation and among the world's leading seven societies in terms of administering aid to needy people all over the world. Through 'Dubai the City that Cares 2002', DCCI's partnership with UNICEF and UAERC will enhance the charitable element for children of the world. This is being done through a variety of fundraising activities, proceeds of which will go towards financing major projects for children in need.
'Dubai, the City that Cares 2002' will run from 2nd November until 12th December 2002, and is sponsored by American Express, Dubai Islamic Bank, Jumeira Beach Residence, Gold & Jewelry Group, Dubai Shopping Malls Group and Al Zarouni Group.
