Dubai flower trade blooms

Dubai's flower industry is blossoming due to the emirate's role as a commerce hub and its expanding tourism industry, reported Gulf News. Maryam Al Noori, the Vice-President of the UAE Flowers and Plant Association, said that the sector grew by 40% last year and there are around 4,500 businesses involved in horticulture. The $70m Dubai Flower Centre opened last month and can handle 180,000 tonnes of perishable goods a year.
