Saudi delays telecom licences

Saudi Arabia has decided to delay until 2007 its plan to issue one more fixed line licence to end Saudi Telecom's monopoly on the service and hand out a third mobile phone licence, reported the Gulf Daily News. The Communications and Information Technology Commission put the delay down to technical issues regarding frequencies. The CITC had planned to issue a licensing schedule in Q3 and grant the licences in Q4.
