Lufthansa resumes flights to Beirut

After the re-opening of Rafik Hariri International airport, German Airline Lufthansa re-establishes its flight operation to the Lebanese capital.
Due to the military conflict in Southern Lebanon, and due to the closure of Rafik Hariri International airport, Lufthansa was forced to suspend its flights on 13 July and cancelled flights for the time being until 31 August 2006. However, the airline assisted passengers booked on Beirut flights with free rebooking on connections to Amman or Larnaca. Besides, on demand of the Federal Foreign Office of Germany, four special flights were operated by Lufthansa from Damascus, Larnaca and Amman to Frankfurt.
