35 million kilometers covered by Dubai Taxis

The Dubai Taxi Department in the Public Transport Agency, from the Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) announced that the total kilometers commuted by taxis working on the commission system during the month of July reached to 35, 11,373 kilometers.

Recording a tremendous increase of 5 million kilometers over the same month last year, which was only 29,651,774 kilometers.

Ammar Bin Tamim, Director of Dubai Taxi Department said, "Studies have revealed that the revenue generated kilometers have reached to 17,264,868 this year which is 49% of the total kilometers covered, while the number of revenue generated kilometers during the same period last year was 14,523,458."

"The average daily income for each taxi has reached AED 389 compared to AED 354 in July 2005, and 95% of the fleet which comprise of 3000 taxis operates daily," he added.

The average revenue of a taxi for every kilometer has reached to AED1.07 fils compared to AED 1.01 fils in July 2005 and the average number of trips for each taxi daily has reached 23 with a revenue of AED 18.70 fils for each trip, while during the same period last year, on an average a taxi covered 22 trips and earned a revenue of AED 16.60 fils.
