UAE National joins DTCM as Manager Quality Assurance

UAE national Mohamed Ahmed Al Mutawa has joined the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) as Manager Quality Assurance.

He is a Certified ISO9000 lead Auditor, BEM senior assessor, Quality Circles (QCs) coordinator and facilitator.

Prior to joining DTCM, Mr. Al Mutawa was the Head of Customer Care Section and Process Management Unit at the Dubai Municipality.

He had worked with the UAE Ministry of Health, Department of Health and Medical Services (Dohms) and Emirates Telecommunications Corporation.

During his tenure with the Etisalat as the Assistant Quality Manager for Business, he bagged the best business centre award at the country's sole telecom service provider in Dubai region.

Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot, DTCM Manager Human Resources, said: "We encourage qualified and experienced UAE nationals to join the department. Our vision is to be an employer of choice. The pace of Emiratisation is gaining momentum with 238 UAE nationals currently employed with the DTCM. Mr. Al Mutawa holds 16 years of experience in equally reputed organizations, especially in the areas of customer care and quality standards - two focused areas for us."

Mr. Al Mutawa said: "Dubai has earned an unrivalled position on the world tourism map due to provision of high standard services. Dubai government is giving utmost thrust on quality and we will be able to take the quality mission further ahead."

The Quality Assurance department is responsible for coordinating and championing the development, implementation and improvement of the effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS) in DTCM.

The ISO 9001:2000 certified Quality Management System is applicable to the promotion of tourism and commerce marketing, licensing and classification of hotels and hotel apartments, promotion of tourism facilities and activities, management of historical sites and the design and delivery of tourism and hospitality training courses.

The certification, originally approved in June 2000, has been revalidated until June 2009 after a review in July this year.

Mr. Al Mutawa did his MSc in Quality Management from Salford University in the UK and BSc in Health Care Management from the Southern Illinois University at Carbondale, USA.

He is currently pursuing his doctorate in Business Administration from the Northumbria University, UK. Mr. Al Mutawa loves playing football and basketball and enjoys swimming and traveling.
