Sharp unveils the next generation refrigerator
- United Arab Emirates: Thursday, August 24 - 2006 at 11:48
- PRESS RELEASE
Tomio Isogai, the new Managing Director of Sharp Middle East FZE unveiled a breakthrough range of refrigerators at a press conference.
Amidst claims that the product is set to revolutionize the category - transforming the White Goods category to Green Goods, and eventually bringing a new focus on eco-friendly living and style. A result of several years of research and a convergence of multiple innovations in technology and design, the new range of refrigerators are set to redefine what the consumers will expect from this essential household appliance in the future.
"Introduced outside Japan for the first time, the 4-door refrigerator range has many firsts to its credit," said Tomio Isogai at the launch. "From Hybrid cooling, Express Freezing functions and a bottom freezer design to a unique opening mechanism and the cutting edge Plasmacluster Ion System, this is truly the refrigerator of tomorrow."
Plasmacluster Ion System
This new model features sharp's exclusive Plasmacluster Ion System, which is effective against bacteria and airborne mold spores. Positive and negative ions released from the vents inside the refrigerator permeate the air throughout, affecting the cells membrane of bacteria and halting cells reproduction. The result is a reduction in odors and longer lasting freshness of the food in your refrigerator.
Hybrid Cooling System: How is food kept so fresh?
Instead of conventional cooling by circulating dry air using fans in conventional refrigerators, the new 4-door refrigerator uses an innovative new technique - the rear aluminum panel inside is cooled to approximately 0˚C, and highly humid, chilled air is spread throughout the compartments to keep food fresh. This prevents excessive dryness, uneven cooling and over cooling.
Center - Partition - Less: How can it be so wide?
Complementing the convenience of the double doors, the compartments width has been kept as large as a regular bottom-freezer type refrigerator. This practical, wide compartment was realized by employing Sharp's advanced Center-Partition-Less design technology.
Express Freezing Functions: How can you never run out of ice?
Get ice for your drinks in about twenty minutes, which is four times faster than other models. You can even use this compartment to rapidly freeze small fruits and vegetables.
Bottom Freezer Type: Why is it so easy to use?
According to survey data*, frequency of use is about 70% for the refrigerator section and 30% for the freezer. Hence, in the Four Door Bottom-Freezer Refrigerator, the compartment most often used - the refrigerator - is located in the upper section, so you can easily store and remove items without having to bend over.
Unique Opening Mechanism: How it is so unique?
This refrigerator features Sharp's cutting-edge technology called unique opening mechanism. Because doors slide sideway when opened and closed, no mullion is necessary, and friction between doors is eliminated.
Honeycomb Deodorizer
A honeycomb deodorizer in the back of the refrigerator compartment reduces both odors and bacteria. When the air passes through the filter, the molecules that create smells are oxidized and broken down. Combined with the Plasmacluster Ion System, the multiplying effects of the honeycomb deodorizer creates an odor-free space and keeps your food fresh and tasty.

What is Plasmacluster Ion Technology?
The crisp, refreshing air of the great outdoors (for example, in a forest) is clear and clean, and gives us an especially nice feeling. The reason for this is that there is a good balance of positive and negative ions in the air, that is, there are roughly the same number of each, and they are present in abundance. In the natural world, these positive and negative ions work to purify the air. But the quality of the air that most of us breathe is poor. It's often polluted and the number of ions it contains is low and the ratio of positive and negative ions is out of balance. To combat this problem, a new air cleaning technology, "Plasmacluster Ions," based on this natural air cleaning system is now available.
