GCC aluminium set to grow

The aluminium industry in the GCC is set to expand rapidly in the next few years, giving a major boost to economic diversification, according to a report by the Gulf Research Centre and cited by the Times of Oman. Aluminium production accounted for 7% of Dubai's GDP last year and 12% in Bahrain, but GCC output is set for a three-fold increase to around 5m tonnes per year by 2010.
