Iran, Romania seek rig deal

High level government talks are underway in a bid to resolve the controversy surrounding a Romanian oil rig currently in Iranian waters, reported Gulf News. Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told his Romanian counterpart Traian Basescu that the occupation and searching of the rig last week by Iranian authorities was not an act of hostility, but for commercial reasons. Romanian embassy officials are hopeful of a swift solution to the dispute.
