'We are pleased to be a part of GASCO's expansion and development efforts. GE Oil and Gas is committed to providing world-class technology that is geared towards supporting regional sustainable growth as well as the emerging regulatory and environmental framework in the oil and gas industry,'
said Mohammad Ayoub, Region General Manager, GE Oil & Gas - Middle East.
Under the scope of GE's contract to expand the plant's capacity, the gas turbines will be upgraded to MS5002D models, which offer increased efficiency. The new machines also are equipped with new Dry Low NOx combustion systems that reduce NOx emissions across a broad operability range.
Recently, GE also supplied 12 fixed bed reactors for a new refinery project developed by the Kuwait National Petroleum Company (KNPC) in Al Zour, Kuwait. When completed in 2010, the new Greenfield facility will be the largest refinery in the Middle East, with a capacity to process 615,000 barrels per day of Kuwait export crude oil.
'GE is a world leader in large vessel production and our technology offers value-added solutions customized for the Middle East region,' stated Ayoub. 'We are excited by the accelerated pace of development in Kuwait and its plans to strengthen its petrochemical sector through large-scale investments over the next few years,' he added.
GE Oil and Gas offers a vast array of integrated solutions, which provide reliable and proven technology to refineries and the petrochemical industry.
