Smart shoppers have just a few more days to benefit from the summer largesse, as malls and businesses come to the end of Dubai Summer Surprise (DSS) promotions.

The DSS-retail sector partnership ensured a win-win situation for shoppers and businesses.

Whether its big-ticket items or smaller knick knacks, its best to buy it now before DSS ends on September 1. The host of exciting benefits being offered by retailers, brands distributors, restaurants, fast food chains and companies who signed up for Summer Deals are only on as long as DSS.

And for shoppers, just a few days to avail of special promotions and raffles organised by DSS Key Sponsors, the Dubai Shopping Malls Group, the Dubai Gold and Jewellery Group and Emarat petroleum company.

If you are in the market for new wheels, Al Futtaim Motors is offering shoppers who buy a Toyota or a Lexus car the chance to win a Toyota Land Cruiser. Shoppers who buy Toyota or Lexus cars from Al Futtaim Motors will receive coupons to enter the grand draw of the Land Cruiser promotion.

This is also the best time to replenish a wardrobe as leading clothing and accessories brands have some exciting offers, but only for a few days more.

At Al Washia Trading shoppers who spend Dh100 can get a Dh25 gift voucher. At Dubai Optical buyers get a Dh100 gift voucher. Kookai Fashions is offering 50 per cent discount and so is Furla. Rivoli group has a gift with purchase schemes at Swatch and Hour Choice outlets, as well as special schemes for Glitter jewellery and Mont Blanc.

The Landmark chain of stores too are offering discounts at all its stores including Bata, Ecco, Pablosky, Shoe Mart and many more. The strike-it-rich promotion offered by the Gulf Food Company (GFC) until September 15 gives shoppers a chance to win a cash money card worth Dh49,000.

Electronics giant Panasonic has some fabulous offers such as free memory cards, discs and bags with digital cameras and DVD e-cams. If you buy a notebook you get a free carry bag along with it. Panasonic microwave oven worth comes with a juicer/blender free.

Ace Hardware also offers a discount of 20 per cent on several categories of hardware products at different outlets in Dubai.

Participating malls have mall-wide sales offering discounts up to 70 per cent on some of the items. Babyshop, BHS, Aldo, Mothercare, Next. Adams, Nine West, Shoe Mart, Bossini, G2000, all have attractive discounts during DSS, with sales ending on September 1.

Families can shop for school supplies at the Back to School exhibition at Modhesh Fun City in the lobby of Dubai World Trade Center. And of course, no DSS is complete without Modhesh souvenirs - available at Modhesh Fun City, Deira City Centre, BurJuman, Mercato, Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta Mall. Apart from stationery, pillows, soft toys, and key chains, Modhesh juices are now available. They are retailed at Carrefour Deira City Centre and Mall of the Emirates till stocks last. At the airport, visitors can take home the memories and smiles of DSS by picking up Modhesh collectibles at Dubai Duty Free.

The 10-week long DSS, which opened with Ice Surprises week on June 21, celebrated the Arts Surprises Week, Food Surprises, Adventure Surprises, Cartoon Surprises, Nature Surprises, Knowledge Surprises, Flower Surprises and Heritage Surprises concludes with the ongoing Back-2-School Surprises on September 1.
