UAE garment industry shrinking

The UAE's clothing industry is under pressure from low cost manufacturers in countries like India and China, reported Gulf News. The UAE's export market has shrunk as its prices are easily undercut by rival manufacturers elsewhere. The number of factories making clothes in the UAE has dropped from 151 in 2004 to around 100 now; industry experts feel the UAE's manufacturers should concentrate on producing expensive, high end goods.
