The partnership focuses on Oman, Qatar and Kuwait as emerging markets with great potential. The agreement reinforces Cellucom's commitment to providing combined mobility solutions to its consumers.

Arun Nagar, Managing Director, Cellucom, speaking about the new alliance said, "Our strong distribution network combined with our dedication to offering our retailers increased value added services was a key element in Sony Ericsson's decision to partner with us. The partnership is a valuable addition to our growing portfolio of business partners in the mobile phone industry."

Commenting on Cellucom's strong presence across GCC, he further added, "Cellucom, the only one presently with a pan-GCC presence, will continue to deliver high quality sales support to its growing number of retailers and satisfy their demands for new services. We look forward to supporting Sony Ericsson through our well-established distribution network and expert sales staff. I am confident that our combined efforts will help Sony Ericsson gain strong market presence in the region."

Less than a decade ago, Cellucom was set up as an exporter of leading mobile phone brands, with operations in Dubai and East Africa. Today, the company has evolved to become one of the largest distributors of digital devices and mobility solutions in the Middle East and Africa region.

Husni El-Assi, General Manager, Sony Ericsson, Middle East and North Africa said, "Sony Ericsson was looking for a partner that thoroughly understands the need of the mobile phone market and lives up to the retailer's expectations. Based on Cellucom's proven track record and their vital position in the region, they were an obvious choice for us. We look forward to a mutually beneficial business relationship with Cellucom."

Cellucom will strive for maximum penetration at a micro-level by effective and sustainable distribution in these regions. It will offer competitive prices, provide credit support and supply goods directly to the retailers. This will help maintain stronger relationship with them.
