- Bahrain: Monday, October 22 - 2001 at 18:22
- PRESS RELEASE
Avaya (NYSE: AV), a global leader in corporate networking solutions and services, announced that an Avaya wireless networking solution has been installed at The Emirates Academy of Hospitality Management in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, through its BusinessPartner and Value Added Reseller, Telematics Networking & Communications.
According to Mike Atkinson, managing director of Telematics, Wireless connectivity is facilitated by twelve access points each providing 22Mbps bandwidth through two wireless PC cards per access point, located inside and outside the campus buildings, in the gardens and at the poolside of the Emirates Academy.
"Avaya's wireless networking solution offers students and faculty members greater flexibility directly from their laptops," said Mr. Atkinson. "They can access courseware, surf on the web, search for library books, check e-mails and receive electronic notification of new online course material. Software applications specific to the hospitality industry can also be accessed from twelve Access Points. These include a recipe management system, personal academic records and tuition statements. In addition, students can also view their fax and telephone bills and make on-line payments."
"Our students and faculty are extremely satisfied with the convenience provided by Avaya's wireless network. Our objective in this project was to enable wireless access from anywhere on the campus at high speed. Telematics demonstrated considerable expertise during the two-month delivery phase comprising installation and testing as well as the implementation of three security access levels, including 128bit encryption and MAC address based authentication of wireless cards," added Floor Bleeker, IT Manager of The Emirates Academy.
