"These new Layer 2 stackable Ethernet switches combine excellent performance with ProCurve's hallmark quality and reliability at an affordable price that adds up to industry-leading value,"
said Omar Hussein Business Development Manager, UAE, ProCurve Networking by HP.
Like all ProCurve products, the new switches are based on industry standards for superior interoperability in multi-vendor network environments. They come with ProCurve's industry-leading lifetime warranty as standard, which features next-day replacement, free telephone and email support, and free software updates for as long as the customer owns the product.
"ProCurve sets the standard for high-performance 10/100/1000 switches that offer reliable and secure networking solutions and are easy to integrate and use," said Rolf Schmidhuber, Columbus data management system technology team leader for EADS ST, which is responsible for the development of the International Space Station's European Columbus module.
"Operating in an incredibly demanding environment some 400 kilometers above the Earth, the Columbus module must be able to conduct its complex research and experiments using network switches we completely trust," added Schmidhuber. "Based on our current levels of satisfaction and confidence in ProCurve products, we will evaluate all of the new switches at such a time that it is necessary."
Katie Trippet, industry analyst at the Synergy Research Group, said, "ProCurve is successfully targeting the networking needs of the small, medium and large customer. With this new set of switches and affordable, standards-based technology, ProCurve is well-positioned for ongoing growth in the LAN switching marketplace. Synergy is optimistic about the demand for stackable switches and is forecasting Fixed Gigabit Layer 2 switch revenues to grow to $1.95 billion in 2009."
