- United Arab Emirates: Monday, September 04 - 2006 at 08:51
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Women's College held yesday its annual orientation of 684 new students.
In his speech, Dr. Reed welcomed students and encouraged them to be active participants of Dubai's development and history building. "DWC wants to help you join Dubai's market with strong and competitive qualifications," he said. "But in order to participate and add value to Dubai, you have to be well-educated and hard-working Emiratis," Dr. Reed added. Students were also briefed about the role women have been playing in world economics where "in the past ten years, working women had a bigger impact on the world's economy than China and new technology."
This year, DWC's student will have the opportunity to participate in a new community service program introduced by the Student Services Department at the college. The program allows students to volunteer in projects that are useful to the community and, at the same time, help students build new skills and develop their professional experiences. DWC pays special attention to programs that enrich students' lives and enable them to become competitive employees in Dubai's market.
The campus at DWC has several new facilities available to students this year which include a state-of-the-art auditorium, a new fitness center, and a wellness center. The College has also added a new students' center to its new facilities where several businesses will be run by DWC students.
