Back-2-School week fetches awards for three creative journalists

The concluding week of Dubai Summer Surprises 2006 brought good news for journalists who won the weekly DSS Press Creativity Awards for their coverage of the Back-2-School Surprises.
The final theme week of the ninth edition of DSS was organised by Dubai Department of Economic Development who made it very special indeed by putting up a grand show complete with entertaining events and activities for people of all ages. Come September and it's time to go back to school and the theme week that ran from August 24 to September 1 prepared the school-goers as well as their parents to return to school with a smile. It was a time when DSS visitors and Dubai residents bid farewell to yet another glorious edition of DSS after 10 exciting and eventful theme weeks.
The Back-2-School week was a perfect summing up of a grand summer fiesta which enthralled the kids and adults alike. The award-winning write-ups and photographs captured this very essence of the final theme week for their readers and viewers. The writers weaved impressive accounts of the joyous DSS week signaling the end of the two and a half month extravaganza.
The media has done a fantastic job throughout the 10-week long summer extravaganza and some of them were also awarded for their expression and representation of the DSS. The names of the final winners who would be awarded for overall coverage of DSS are yet to be announced. The best writings in both English and Arabic will be awarded a cash prize of $2500 while the best photograph will get a cash prize of $1500.
