  • PRESS RELEASE

The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) presented certificates and mementos to 75 UAE national students who successfully completed their summer training programme this year.

The two month programme attracted 30% more participants compared with the last year.

Addressing the concluding ceremony held at the DTCM-operated Dubai Cruise Terminal recently, Mr. Ibrahim Yaqoot, DTCM Manager Human Resources, said the participants displayed good learning skills and dedication at handling the jobs assigned to them.

The training programme was designed to help the students utilize their vacation time fruitfully during the summer and to train them in skills that help them take up responsibilities in their future jobs.

Each student was allocated different sections within the DTCM. This programme gave them exposure to the systematic and smooth working of a government organization.

The students also got a hands-on experience about a healthy work culture amongst the employees who help each other to work better towards common goals.

The students were taken on a tour of the DTCM-managed sites to familiarise them with the various departments and personnel.

The department regularly updates its records on the progress and performance of each student for future reference in case they decided to join the department. The summer trainees were paid stipends as encouragement and motivation.

During the training programme, the students actively participated in fund raising drive conducted among the DTCM staff for the Lebanon war victims.

Summer training programme was innovatively packaged this year, taking students through an effective mix of edutainment, leisure, social and Information Technology-driven training modules.

This year three new training modules were added to the programme to make it more interesting and effective. The new dimensions to the training programme include social and leisure activities and IT training.

As part of their social activities, the students will visit the Red Crescent Society and learn different aspects of charity programmes so that they are sensitive to the needs of the poor and the needy in their interaction with them.
