Special drop off facility for rent a car users opened at DIA
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, September 04 - 2006 at 15:48
- PRESS RELEASE
Dubai Department of Civil Aviation (DCA) opened recently a parking and drop off facility dedicated to rent-a-car users.
Located at the Departures level of DIA adjacent to car park A, the facility comprises an air-conditioned office building that houses counters of the 19 rent-a-car companies, and a 48-slot paid parking area. Two parking spaces have been allocated by the DCA for each of the 19 rent-a-car firms.
According to Ali Al Qaizi, Commercial Properties Manager at DCA's Commercial Directorate, the facility was opened mainly to serve passengers, many of whom visit Dubai for leisure or business. "A large number of visitors use rent-a-car service and drop off the vehicles at the airport. The facility allows them to park the car in peace, have it inspected and get relevant formalities done quickly," he explained. Al Qaizi added that the new facility makes the whole procedure very convenient for passengers, saves their time, minimises congestion on DIA premises (including car parks) and is an add on service for the companies involved.
Access to the car park is strictly limited to vehicles of the rent a car firms at DIA and is controlled by a personnel appointed by the operating firms. The new service is being hailed by passengers who use services of the rent-a-car companies, as a major convenience. The car rental firms have also expressed satisfaction with the dedicated drop off point and office building streamlining their airport operations.
