'The main aim of this scholarship program was to prepare qualified project engineers in the field of aerospace, mechanical and information technology (IT) engineering industries in Egypt,' said John B. Craig, Boeing vice president in the Middle East. 'We are delighted to celebrate the graduation of these professional engineers who will provide technical proficiency and services to the Egyptian aviation industry.'
The program provided the aerospace, mechanical and IT engineers with transferable project management skills that lead to certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP)® or a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM)™ from the Project Management Institute (PMI), the world's leading professional association for project management.
'We have recognized the increasing importance of acquiring proper project management skills to minimize costs, deliver projects in the proper timeframe and eliminate communication hurdles,' said Stephen Hanchey, AMIDEAST Country Director for Egypt. 'The Boeing Company and AMIDEAST/Egypt have worked together to provide Egyptian engineers with project management knowledge and techniques they need to effectively manage projects in their specialized fields.'
25 experienced engineers and 5 recent graduates completed, respectively, the PMP and the CAPM Certification Preparation Programs, according to criteria set by the PMI. The six-month program focused on Project Management Essentials, Project Management Body of Knowledge, and Certification Exam Preparation. The program will culminate in PMI certification as a Project Management Professional or as a Certified Associate in Project Management following the graduates' successful completion of the standardized PMP exams, also sponsored by Boeing.
