As another unique feature, the á100 has two methods to prevent dust. The low-pass filter on the CCD is treated with a special anti-dust coating to minimize the static charge and thereby reduce the attraction of dust.
Furthermore, whenever the á100 is turned off, the Anti-dust Vibration function automatically vibrates the CCD rapidly, shaking loose dust particles that may have accumulated.
The á100 is powered by a high speed DDR-SDRAM that captures 3 frames per second continuously for moments not to be missed. With the advanced power of the high-speed Bionz engine and DDR-SDRAM buffer, the á100 can process and write to memory quickly enough that you can now capture images in high resolution JPEG at 3 frames per second.
Moreover, with Sony's new lithium ion stamina battery pack complemented by low energy consumption measures, you can shoot up to 750 shots in a single charge.
10.2 Mega pixel CCD to capture every single detail
The á100 tops its class with a high resolution 10.2 mega pixel CCD, giving users the ability to capture incredibly minute details, subtle gradations and delicate shifts of colour and shading that lower-resolution cameras can't detect. Thanks to the large-size CCD, the á100 provides a wider tonal range with less noise, and allows you to produce prints that are stunningly sharp and exceptionally clean even when enlarged.
Anti-shake Function
The Super SteadyShot™ anti-shake function enables the á100 to preserve high image quality and hand-shake free photos by countering both low frequency and high frequency movements caused by either inevitable hand-shakes or body movements. With Super SteadyShot™ built into the á100 body, anti-shake feature is now readily available for all á compatible lenses without additional lens investment unlike other brands of D-SLR camera.
Anti-dust Features to Secure Spot-free Images
The á100 has a special anti-dust coating on the CCD that minimizes the attraction of dust particles and makes it harder for them to cling to the CCD. Secondly, each time the camera is shut down, the Anti-dust Vibration function automatically vibrates the CCD rapidly to shake loose dust particles that may have accumulated on it. Both methods prevent dust from settling onto the CCD and freeing the owner the hassle to clean the camera manually and the effort to edit spots on the photos.
Bionz™ Image Engine
Sony's new Bionz™ image engine processes all the rich colour and detail as vivid as you remember. The sophisticated algorithm easily handles high speed, high quality processing to reduce unwanted image noise without degrading resolution or colour integrity. This engine also accurately controls colour saturation, contrast and white balance to produce sharp, vivid, yet natural images every time.
High Quality Interchangeable Lenses for Optical Performance
Sony offers a range of 21 high-quality interchangeable lenses which include Carl Zeiss® lenses and 2 teleconverters. These lenses give high descriptive performances in areas of transparency, colour reproduction, tone, fading effects and various ways of descriptive performances to deliver high photo quality and wide photographic range. To complete the lineup, DT lenses offer optimized quality and performance on an APS-C sized imaging element adopting the optical system exclusively for D-SLR while keeping the system lightweight and compact.
Quick Capture at a Precise Moment
The á100 can instantly focus on the object by just having the user peeping through the finder to trigger the AF in the Eye-Start AF system making it easy for the photographer to focus on the object automatically without waiting time and manual activation. The center cross 9-area 8-line AF sensor in the á100 has the ability to focus on a wide area involving more details in the photo and bring moving targets and dimly-lit scenes into focus.
Share Photos at Any Angle on the High Resolution 2.5" Clear Photo LCD Plus
Photos are meant for sharing and Sony has incorporated a generous 2.5" Clear Photo LCD Plus display that projects 230,000 dot high resolution playback. With the wide angle view, the á100 is a friendly camera that enables the photographer to view, playback and enjoy the photos with everyone viewing the display at any angle. A multilayer "AR (anti-reflection) Coating" on the display makes the images clearly visible even under strong sunlight.
An Easy-to-use D-SLR camera
Delivering easy-to-use and simple control for the perfect picture, users who are familiar with compact digital still cameras will be able to start shooting excellent photographs in no time. As for current D-SLR camera users, functions like the D-Range Optimizer, White Balance, AF Mode and Exposure Mode can easily be set by turning the dial for ready shooting. The smart "Navigation Display" can detect the user's movement when the user's eye moves away from the viewfinder to turn on the LCD display automatically. It can also identify the orientation of the á100 that is held by displaying exposure information in the correct orientation.
