Trade Secrets and Quality Management Seminar attracts UAE exporters

The Dubai Department of Economic Development (DED) in cooperation with The Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC) and the Geneva-based International Trade Center (ITC) recently concluded a successful three-day "Trade Secrets for Exports and Quality Management" seminar at the Grand Hyatt hotel in Dubai.

  • Mr. Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development, Department of Economic Development, DED and Board Chairman of the Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC), and Salma Bin Hareb, CEO, Jebel Ali Free Zone & Economic Zones World, honouring the DED team headed by Dr. Faisal Mohammed El Amir, Industrial Advisor and Fatma Gahnim, and the ITC team headed by Mr. Ivarsson, for their efforts in making the seminar a success.
    Mr. Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development, Department of Economic Development, DED and Board Chairman of the Dubai Export Development Corporation (DEDC), and Salma Bin Hareb, CEO, Jebel Ali Free Zone & Economic Zones World, honouring the DED team headed by Dr. Faisal Mohammed El Amir, Industrial Advisor and Fatma Gahnim, and the ITC team headed by Mr. Ivarsson, for their efforts in making the seminar a success.
More than 40 Dubai-based exporters attended the seminar.

DED organized the seminar to ensure the development of the growing export sector in the UAE as a means to respond quickly and effectively to the emerging needs of the economy.

"With the increasing focus on international trade, we need to further streamline our export mechanisms, so that exporters can maximize their advantage from Dubai's unique position in the region," said Mr. Khalid Al Kassim, Deputy Director General for Planning and Development, DED and Board Chairman of DEDC. "To assist Dubai-based exporters to identify and target the best export opportunities, DED launched two export manuals, which are an accumulation of knowledge and a quality daily reference for exporters," he added.

"The development of the Dubai-based exporters' base is of crucial significance to a place like Dubai, which has positioned itself as the trading hub of the region. ITC congratulates the participants for having acquired new insights in the fields of trade and of quality management. We hope such knowledge will impact their professional development and the success of their business," said Mr Daniel Ivarsson, Chief, Office of Arab States, Europe and the CIS, ITC.

On the last day of the seminar, Mr. Al Kassim and Salma Bin Hareb, CEO, Jebel Ali Free Zone & Economic Zones World, thanked the participants and handed them certificates of appreciation. Mr. Al Kassim also paid tribute to the DED team headed by Dr. Faisal Mohammed El Amir, Industrial Advisor and Fatma Gahnim, and the ITC team headed by Mr. Ivarsson, for their efforts in making the seminar a success.
