Batelco Toastmasters Club launched at Chartering Ceremony

Batelco Toastmasters Club was formally established at a Chartering Ceremony held on 5th September.

The event was attended by Toastmasters Area 10 Governor Jawad Hayat, Batelco Toastmasters Club President, Chris Gabriel who is Chief Financial Officer at Batelco, members of Batelco's senior leaders' team including Chief Executive Peter Kaliaropoulos and a number of invited guests from other Bahrain based Toastmasters Clubs.

Mr. Kaliaropoulos said that Toastmasters is a great initiative to develop people in one of the most important disciplines of all, the art of communicating by speaking, thinking and listening.

"Confidence in communicating leads to personal growth which leads to further self confidence and personal development," he said.

Following Toastmasters International Chartering Ceremony procedures, Mr. Hayat outlined the list of duties that each of the new Club's 7 officers are obliged to carry out. In addition to Mr. Gabriel, the other members are GM Information Systems Saleh Tarradah in the role of VP Education; Business Intelligence & Data Warehouse Applications Manager Waleed Al Abbas as Vice President Membership; Information Systems Specialist Noreen Haji as Vice President Public Relations; Manager Business Relations (Corporate) Safeya Al Shehab as Treasurer; Finance & Admin System Manager Amani Sangoor as Secretary and Senior Analyst Programmer Aref Murad as Sergeant at Arms.

"The mission of Batelco Toastmasters Club is to make a positive difference in the member's personal growth, developing their communication and leadership skills through highly entertaining, social and educational meetings," said CFO Chris Gabriel.

Toastmasters International Club was established in 1924 to afford practice and training in the art of public speaking and while presiding over meetings, and to promote sociability and good fellowship among its members.

Batelco Toastmasters Club was initiated by Mr. Tarradah with the assistance of Mr. Hayat who is Production Services Superintendent at Alba. The Club currently has 20 members who are working towards their CC (Competent Communicator) award by completing 10 projects as per Toastmasters regulations.
