Nokia launches latest premium and fashion handsets in world first event in Dubai

Inspired by the natural wonders and the graphic art of the Middle East and Africa, the new editions include the latest premium handset, the Nokia 8800 Sirocco and three new additions to the highly successful L'Amour Fashion Collection, the Nokia 7360, the Nokia 7373 and the Nokia 7390.

"This is first time that Nokia has held a global launch in the Middle East and Africa and highlights Nokia's ongoing and growing commitment to the region," said Timo Toikkanen, Senior Vice President, Customer and Market Operations, Nokia Middle East and Africa.

"In addition, this is also the first time that design influences from the Middle East and Africa will feature in Nokia products that will be enjoyed around the world," he said.

"When designing these handsets the award-winning Nokia Design Team was inspired by the sands and winds of desert as well as the cultural and decorative art of the region," said Mr Tomi Paatsila, Vice President Mobile Phones Sales and Market Operations, Nokia Middle East and Africa.

"Indeed so inspired were they that the new premium handset, the Nokia 8800 Sirocoo, is named after the wind that blows off the Sahara," he said.

"For a large number of consumers today, the mobile phone has truly become an extension of their personal style - it is a fashion statement, as well as being a communications device!

"We believe that these handsets will appeal to consumers who appreciate design, attention to detail and require a handset that reflects the latest in style," Mr Paatsila said.

The phones were launched at a lavish and exclusive event in the middle of the desert outside Dubai to a gathering of the Middle East and Africa's most influential media.
