Dubbed the 'Drivers Automated Test System,' the project, which is funded by the Challenge Fund at the Ministry of Public Sector Development, is located at Amman's Drivers and Vehicles Licensing Department (DVLD) in Marka.
Moyed Haddadin, Head of the Software Development Department at OFFTEC Systems, said that OFFTEC has developed a software solution to automate the current testing procedures at DVLD as well as a drivers' curriculum and question pool that will serve as a guide to all applicants in an effort to standardize, modernize and streamline these procedures.
OFFTEC Systems developed the curriculum and question pool in cooperation with the DVLD and the Jordan Traffic Institute, making use of their extensive field and hands-on experience. The content and structure meet relevant Jordanian and International standards, and the questions include animated images to make them more interactive and easier for all users to understand
OFFTEC Systems' computerized test application supports both Arabic and English, giving non-Arab applicants the ability to take the test. All questions are also audio recorded to make the test suitable for illiterate applicants.
'The solution includes a state-of-the-art test environment with touch-screen monitors that simplifies and streamlines the test process allowing for a more efficient and accurate evaluation of citizens applying for drivers licenses,' Haddadin explained.
Drivers applying for any type of driving license at the DVLD offices in Marka will go through the new test system as of September 10, 2006.
On the technical specifications of the newly installed system, Haddadin said the Drivers Automated Test System is built on Microsoft's .net 2005 Platform using an SQL 2005 Database in the background, with a powerful randomization engine, and solid reporting and statistical analysis modules.
