DCCI hosts a business networking lunch for government trade offices and business groups and councils in Dubai

Dubai Chamber of Commerce & Industry (DCCI) yesterday hosted a business networking lunch for the heads of government trade offices and centers and for the business councils and groups which operate under the DCCI umbrella.
The business networking lunch ceremony, which was hosted by the DCCI at Godolphin Ballroom in Jumeirah Emirates Towers, was attended by some members of the DCCI Board of Directors including H.E. Rashid Humaid Al Mazroui, H.E. Hani Rashid bin Rashid Al Yateem, H.E. Dr. Ahmed Saif Belhasa, and Mrs. Amina Al Jallaf.
The ceremony was also attended by Hamad Buamim, Deputy Director General of the DCCI, Directors of the DCCI departments, Heads of some government economic establishments, as well as directors of the government representative trade offices and business groups and councils in Dubai.
The ceremony started with a presentation of the DCCI corporate film which introduced the Chamber's distinguished commercial services and the activities and future plans of the DCCI's departments, in addition to the facilities and incentives provided by the Chamber to investors and businessmen and the latest initiatives which the DCCI launched and the general future plans which would help enhance overall performance and improve its services to better cope with Dubai's economic development.
"The business networking lunch is one of the initiatives launched by the DCCI to support communication among the businessmen and entrepreneurs and activate competitiveness in an appropriate business environment, in addition to support the activities of the business councils and groups which operate under the DCCI umbrella," said Buamim.
The number of the DCCI members has been increased to over 80,000 till the end of the first half of 2006, thanks to the new strategy adopted by the Chamber to help the members access new markets and establish strategic alliances to better understand and explore business opportunities in the global markets.
According to the DCCI agenda of activities, over 88 trade delegates are expected to visit the DCCI during the next four months out of a total of 200 delegates targeted for this year, compared to 169 delegates last year. The DCCI plans to receive high quality delegations that help support the recognized outcome of the Chamber performance.
"The DCCI is still committed to support its 18 business groups and 33 business councils and its related private sector establishments and help them express their views in order to tackle any obstacles they may face. The Chamber has also performed an advocacy role and is successfully working with government authorities such as the Ministry of Labor, Ministry of Health, Dubai Municipality, and Dubai's Naturalization and Residence Administration," Buamim added.
The DCCI is also looking into introducing an award to recognize the business groups and councils which are best representing their sectors. The DCCI will also launch an Electronic Newsletter for business groups and councils, in addition to that the DCCI will also arrange networking meetings between its members and the foreign trade delegations visiting the DCCI.
He added that the Dubai Chamber is going to establish 3 new main business groups and 6 other subordinate business groups in 2007. The DCCI will also support the activities of the Dubai Trade Point which was recently established in the DCCI to attract more companies which would be able to benefit from its services in accessing the local, regional and international investment opportunities of the electronic trade.
Buamim urged the companies to take part in the trade fairs which will be organized by the DCCI this year in Turkey, UK and Kuwait. He said that the DCCI will organize and participate in 7 other trade fairs and economic partnership forums in 2007.
Buamim's speech was followed by another presentation conducted by Mr. Rohit Talwar who is an award-winning and international renowned global futurist, strategist, innovator and a business consultant. His presentation was under the title 'Vision 2020 Trends and Opportunities for Dubai'.
