Mr. Abdulla Kalban, CEO, DUBAL said,
"This certification is a reflection of our commitment to Information Security and we will continue to benchmark and improve our processes to match international best practices and standards. This achievement is in-line with the 'continuous improvement' culture of the organization. We also consider this as a step forward to support the corporate vision of becoming one of the major players in the aluminium Industry."
Mr. Ahmad Almulla, CIO, DUBAL said, "Compliance to ISO27001:2005 standards ensures that the Information Security processes are more effective and efficient and our preparedness to handle the Information Security related incidents and risks will improve substantially."
DUBAL's multi-billion-dollar, state-of-the-art smelter complex comprises a 761,000 MT primary aluminium smelter, a 1,750 megawatt power station, a large carbon plant, three casthouses, a 30-million-gallon-per-day desalination plant, laboratories and research facilities, port and storage facilities, maintenance areas, and associated administration buildings.
DUBAL is also a leader of the quality movement in Dubai, if not the world. It has twice won the Dubai Quality Award in the Production and Manufacturing sector (1996 and 2000). It is certified to the international quality standards ISO 9001, QS 9000 and ISO 14001; besides achieving the OHSAS 18001.
Thus the ISO27001:2005 award further demonstrates the commitment of the organization to follow the International Standards, whilst re-affirming its position as the flag-ship company of the UAE.
