DTCM-DNRD discuss ways to increase visitors to Dubai

The Director General of Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM), Mr. Khalid A bin Sulayem, and Brigadier Mohammed Ahmed Rashid Al Merri, Director of Dubai Naturalisation and Residency Department (DNRD) met at the DTCM Head Office on Monday and discussed measures to increase the number of visitors to Dubai.

As an immediate outcome of the meeting, officials from both the departments met today (September 12) to review the situation and suggestions highlighted by the representatives of tour operators and tourism companies.

Mr. bin Sulayem underscored the need for greater cooperation and understanding between the government departments to achieve the goal of attracting more visitors to Dubai. He thanked the DNRD for its support to the DTCM initiatives concerning the tourism and hospitality sectors.

Brigadier Al Merri also recalled the good levels of cooperation and support his department has been getting from the DTCM on issues concerning the tourism industry and enhancing visitors' experiences in the emirate.

In Tuesday's meeting, the participants debated about the issues of concern to the tourism industry in the emirate and the ways to improve the services and attract more visitors.

The meeting was chaired by Mr. Awadh Seghayer Al Ketbi, Director of Dubai Convention Bureau (DCB) which operates under the DTCM umbrella. Mr. Khalid bin Touq, DTCM Manager Licensing and Classification, also attended the meeting.

Colonel Salah bin Suloom, Assistant Director, Air & Land Entry Points by Delegation Affairs, briefed the gathering and sought the comments and suggestions of the participants on ways to improve the services to attract more visitors to Dubai. Representatives of tour operators and tourism companies aired their views and suggestions.
