- United Arab Emirates: Saturday, September 16 - 2006 at 12:18
- PRESS RELEASE
The BBC continues to expand its presence in Sudan with the launch of BBC Arabic news bulletins on partner station, Mango 96 FM in Khartoum.
Fouad Razek, Business Development Manager for Africa and Middle East, BBC World Service, said: "We are delighted to be providing BBC Arabic news bulletins seven days a week to Mango 96 FM. This new arrangement complements the BBC relay already available in Khartoum on 91.0 FM and ensures that our news bulletins are available to a wider audience."
Mekki Mahmoud Abdulla, Chairman of Mango Holding, added: "We are very pleased to be co-operating with the BBC in this way. The new agreement means that whilst the majority of our output continues to have a lighter and more locally focussed appeal, the BBC bulletins ensure that our audience are kept up to date with international events in a regular, concise and authoritative way. This tie up with the BBC is in line with Mango Media's rapid development plans to be a complete information provider to its customers in the Sudan."
BBC World service programmes can also be heard in Sudan on 91.0 FM in Al Ubayyid, 90.0 FM and 88.2 FM in Juba, 91.0 FM in Port Sudan and 91.5 FM in Wad Madani.
