Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs registers for Identity Card

Deputy Minister of Presidential Affairs, H.E. Ahmad Jumaa Al Zaabi has praised the Population Register and the ID Card programs as two of the most important IT projects in the Middle East.

The programs are now being implemented by the Emirates Identity Authority (EIDA).

H.E. Al Zaabi, accompanied by H.E Mohammad Saeed Al Miqbali, Assistant Under Secretary for the Department of Local Affairs at the ministry and Khaled Bin Bishr Al Mirri, his Executive Secretary, visited the Mushrif Registration Center in Abu Dhabi where they registered for the ID Card. They were also briefed about the latest developments on the project as well as registration procedures.

H.E. Al Zaabi said that these projects are being implemented across the country as part of a comprehensive strategy, which is aimed at improving government bureaucratic efficiency and performance while augmenting services provided to individuals.

Al Zaabi also noted his pride in the projects as they represent technological landmarks in the national development of the UAE. "The projects are facilitating great developments in identification management and will assist in furthering communications between individuals and governmental institutions," he added.

H.E. also praised the role of EIDA in updating the Population Register with up-to-date and accurate information, which will result in a more secure IT environment for the general population. He also affirmed that all citizens and expatriates are responsible for registering in the program at the appropriate time.

"The Population Register and ID Card Project will play a prominent role in promoting the UAE's development and prosperity. The project will also provide decision makers with the necessary information to guide policy formulation in the country", said H.E. Al Zaabi.

Ali Khoury, Assistant Director General for Central Operations of EIDA spoke about the importance of unifying the efforts of all parties including individuals, ministries, and federal institutions to make this initiative a success and assist in achieving its goals.

He noted that the Population Register and ID Card projects have began a new enrollment phase involving registration by national and expatriate government employees and their families.
