- PRESS RELEASE
Nakheel has announced that it will start delivering completed units in its iconic International City project by the end of 2006.
International City General Manager, Eng. Rashid Al Helli, said, "Nakheel is on schedule with the construction and development of its International City project. We have already finished work on the project's infrastructure, such as roads, internal routes, lighting installation, electricity and water. The districts are being constructed phase by phase. We expect to finalize most of the residential buildings by the end of 2006, and are starting a phased handover of completed areas. The remaining buildings will be completed by 2007.
In addition, Phase One of Al Warsan Lake development has also been completed."
"In order to meet the challenges of a project of this scale, we chose to take a modular-development and phased-construction approach. This has helped us deliver on schedule and as planned. International City aims to blend a variety of activities and a wide range of architectural themes all in one location. The first stage of landscaping on the main roads is being finalized as we speak; landscaping of the internal roads will commence in December 2006. The project also covers Al Warsan Lake, which is home to many species of rare and exotic birds. We are currently undertaking detailed planning of this delicate ecosystem" he added.
International City combines commercial, residential, retail and tourism interests. The project has attracted strong interest from local, regional and international investors, including retail giants, multinational companies, real estate developers, regional and international commercial businesses, property investors and homeowners.
