This project aims at providing children's wards in hospitals throughout the Kingdom with small libraries that enable young patients to occupy their recuperation usefully; thus providing pleasure and assistance in bearing the long stay at the hospital. This will create a constructive environment to enrich their experience, skills and ease their pains while healing.
The launch of this project, which is the fourth of its kind in Jordan, was during a ceremony attended by Mrs. Lubna Farzali, Coca Cola PR and communications Manager - Middle East, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health Dr. Ali Asa'ad, the President of Prince Hamzah Hospital Mr. Abdul Aziz Omar, and medical and administrative staff working at the hospital, together with the young patients admitted to the Hospital.
The project includes a library equipped with computers, TV, DVD, toys, and books that meet the needs of the children staying in the hospital for long periods of time.
Mrs. Lubna Farzali expressed her happiness in launching such a project stressing that Coca Cola is always keen to share with different society segments both their pain and dreams and ease the suffering of sick children through providing the necessary equipment to comfort them during their stay at the hospital.
She added: 'The aim of the library is to enforce an educational, informational and enlightening role in the lives of sick children. Coca Cola is exerting much effort to launch more and more advantageous projects with the society, especially for children since they are vital members of the society forming the future of Jordan'
From his side, Dr. Ali Asa'ad, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health expressed his gratitude to Coca Cola for equipping a toy room and library in the hospital saying: 'It is a very distinguished initiative from Coca Cola to play a vital role in the recovery of children through raising their spirit and sense of emotional support. The Ministry also encourages the cooperation between the private and public sectors. Moreover, the project is benefiting the society and both parties. 'The Ministry is looking forward to equipping more libraries and implementing more projects related to health issues.'
These responsibilities are considered within the policies adopted by Coca Cola, which it has implemented in the past few years in a number of hospitals and schools equipping them with the most up-to-date computer labs within the Schools.com project, and a modern children library incorporating the most useful books within the Hospital Library initiative.
Coca Cola continues its Hospital Library Project and inaugurates a Children's Library at Prince Hamzah Hospital
Acting in accordance with its social responsibility and as part of its ongoing Hospital library Project; Coca Cola inaugurated in Amman its new children's library in Prince Hamzah Hospital under the patronage of the Secretary General of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ali Asa'ad.
