Emirates Holidays offers a whale of a time in South Africa
- United Arab Emirates: Monday, September 18 - 2006 at 14:58
- PRESS RELEASE
Emirates Holidays is offering adventure-seekers a whale of a time in South Africa.
Every year from June to November, Southern Right whales travel thousands of miles to breed in the bays off the Cape coast, followed by migratory Humpback whales and their calves who stay until January.
The whales, some more than 15 metres long and weighing around 60 tonnes, can be seen in various bays along the Cape coast, acclaimed as one of the world's best locations for whale-watching. Hermanus, which lies just 140 kilometres southwest of Cape Town, has proclaimed itself whale capital of the world, and further east Plettenberg Bay is also a world-renowned whale-watching destination.
At picturesque Hermanus, huge whales can be seen lolling in the waves mere metres offshore, and can be watched closely from the resort's scenic clifftop walks. Plettenberg
Bay offers boat trips for close-up whale experiences, as well as encounters with Brydes whales, dolphins, orcas and seals.
Emirates Holidays, the largest wholesale tour operator in the Gulf and Middle East, offers the region's most comprehensive program of inclusive holidays to more than 100 leisure destinations in 36 countries around the world, with ground arrangements and transfers. Customers travel on award-winning Emirates Airline and all hotels, apartments, lodges and resorts are inspected to ensure they meet the needs of discerning holidaymakers.
