The National Institute of Vocational Education starts its programs for 2006-2007

The National Institute for Vocational Education (NIVE), an initiative of Dubai Education Council (DEC) has opened it doors for the year.

As part of the preparations for the quality monitoring systems that will ensure providing the students with world class educational programs; NIVE students have successfully completed an assessment test. The test was done in collaboration with Assessment and Qualification Alliance (AQA), the largest exam board in the United Kingdom to give the institute a clearer picture of the dissemination of students on the English language courses that best suit their skills and abilities.

"Vocational Education is becoming a vital factor in the business sector in the UAE and the region. At NIVE we are more convinced of our role in providing this significant sector with a young qualified work force that meets these requirements" said Mr. Mohammad Zinal, a member of DEC and consultant for NIVE.

He added: "to achieve our objectives we plan to continue working with the best practitioners in the world as we expand."

NIVE has partnered with Edexcel, the UK's largest certification body and provider world class education services to develop NIVE with internal Quality Monitoring systems applicable to international specifications.

Commenting on the students first day at NIVE, Mr. Mohamed Sidhoum, the Executive Director of the National Institute for Vocational Education, said "Today our students and staff got to know each other and started to plan the next steps in their personal and professional development. Our students received today their Handbook and timetables to draw out their study plans for next year."

He added "NIVE is working closely with Edexcel to ensure that all areas of curriculum development, faculty selection and recruitment, benchmarking to international professional standards, and accreditation; Thus will help the Institute offering high quality vocational education to cater for the growing skills needs of the local market."

The Institute will offer vocational based educational programs in IT, Finance and Accounting, Marketing and Sales, Public Relations, and Human Resources. The Institute will work on reinforcing relations with companies in need of the vocational expertise and make sure the students undergo intensive on-job training at those companies as part of their study course.
